5 Herbs for Every Reiki Healer's Medicine Cabinet

Herbs for Reiki

Maybe you don't have a Master Reiki Healer from the Saihoji Temple on your cell phone's speed dial for those times you're feeling frazzled....but here's a little secret that every Reiki adept will tell you...

...your life force is directly tied to your diet.

A true Reiki Master knows your Ki, or life force is a documented, scientific phenomenon that is affected by some of the simplest habits that you indulge in every day...everything from how you breathe, how well you sleep, and your stress level is affected by it.

Want to know another secret? Ki is also profoundly affected by herbal supplementation.

What is Ki?

Reiki, itself, is derived from the Chinese word, Qi, only in Japanese it is pronounced "Ki". The character used today to write Ki is 氣. It is made of two characters 气, meaning "air" that represents breathing and 米, meaning "rice" which represents, quite simply, food.

These are the two essential substances which provide the human body with energy.

In short, without food, or air, we can't do much! That includes everything from taking out the garbage to writing Nobel-prize-worthy poetry. The Sanskrit word "prana", which means essentially the same thing as Ki, has a similar history. It refers to the prime energy that supports all of life.

Healing Through Herbs

Pure and simple, we need this sustenance.

We charge our Ki with

  • clean water
  • good sleep
  • positive thoughts
  • elevated intentions
  • clear insight that comes from healing modalities like Reiki and
  • food!

It's important to remember that your Ki can be charged anywhere at anytime. I've created Guided Healing Sessions to help you do this from the comfort of your own home to supplement your herbal treatments.

Herbs to Heal Our Ki

Ancient practitioners of Ayurvedic Medicine, just as those who practiced Traditional Chinese Medicine or Reiki, and other energy-related arts, understood that certain plants offered by Mother Nature are replete with this life force energy.

This is an IMPORTANT piece of our collective knowledge.

So many ancient and highly effective remedies for healing our life force energy are available....we just have to know how to access them.

This becomes even more important when we consider the handful of companies which are controlling most of the medicinal knowledge that is dispersed around the world today. In fact, a recent Forbes article detailed how just four companies own the 147 companies who control almost everything in the world.

Medicine for Reiki

From the water we drink to the food we eat and the pharmaceutical medicines we purchase when we feel anxious, sad, and depressed...just a handful of people control it all!

Though modern medicine addresses many physical ailments, 30 million Americans are ADDICTED to antidepressants. Other developed countries have been affected, too. Antidepressant use in Germany has gone up a shocking 47% in recent years.

In Iceland, Australia, Canada and many more places around the world, people are turning to side-effect-inducing, Ki-harming medicines to heal their anxiety and depression.

Today, I'm going to tell you about the 5 herbs that need to be in your kitchen.

4 Companies VS. 4,000 Years of Ancient Herbal Wisdom?

If you've already started turning from toxic food addictions, ditching processed, sugary foods, and polluted water that is full of life-harming industrial chemicals — great.

Now, it's time to go a step further.

To heal ourselves, we can turn to Ayurvedic medicine for some of the most time-tested, scientifically-supported herbal remedies to:

  • boost our mood,
  • feel energized, and
  • support our overall physiology.

I use these herbs myself to wake up and feel vibrant, pure, and full of powerful energy.

Healing Can Set You Free

Before we talk about the five most-used, herbal, time-tested remedies, let's go over how these emotions and negative energies, when left unchecked, rob us of our life force energy.

What Anxiety and Depression Do to the Life Force

Anxiety and depression can cause a myriad of additional problems if we don't learn how to effectively elevate, and assimilate these feelings. If you don't address these problems, here's what can happen:

Damage to our brain.

German researcher, Thomas Frodl looked at the brains of depressed people and compared them to people who were a little happier. Depressed people had abnormalities in several brain areas that non-depressed people lacked.

Hurt in our heart.

Depression affects the way our hearts pump blood, and even minimizes the activities we engage in, like exercise or laughter that can be good for our hearts.

Cause Addiction.

Smoking and Drinking.

These are the two MOST USED addictive substances in many countries. Depressed and anxious people turn to them to mitigate their symptoms. In the meantime, there are herbal remedies that are non-addictive, and cause no harm.

Loop you into an oppressive cycle.

Depression and anxiety cause a cycle of additional stress and the release of stress hormones. When we are chronically depressed and anxious our bodies are bombarded with stress, which causes a cycle of fear and Ki-depletion.

Cause Obesity.

These problems make us want to eat unhealthy foods when we aren't hungry. Depression and the obesity epidemic now plaguing almost every industrialized nation go hand-in-hand.

Cause us to seek pharmaceutical drugs.

This further stagnates our Ki and causes harm to our organs. Long-standing depression may be due to unexpressed or stagnant anger and fear. These emotions are associated with the liver in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurveda, and other healing modalities.

So what can we do to prevent anxiety and depression from harming us?

5 Herbal Remedies to Heal Anxiety, Depression, and Depleted Ki

Fortunately, these natural medicines take an entirely different approach to healing the body.

There are five herbal remedies to help us stay calm and focused no matter what external factors are affecting us so that our Life Force Energy remains uninterrupted and flows naturally:

1. Rennet (Ashwagandha)

This exotic Indian herb has been historically linked to healing and is just as effective as most pharmaceutical drugs (including tranquilizers) prescribed for clinical depression and acute anxiety.

Rennet has been shown to help build a resistance to stress with little to no side-effect

In animal studies, acute stress and anxiety have been linked to cell degeneration at the rate of 85 percent compared to a baseline level of stress. Ashwagandha was able to reverse that cellular death rate by 80%! This is likely why the herb is also used to treat diseases like Alzheimer's and Parkinsons.

A daily dosage of 300 mg of a high-concentration, full-spectrum extract of the Rennet plant is recommended for those suffering from depression or anxiety.

2. Waterhyssop (Brahmi)

This is a traditional Indian and Ayurvedic remedy for stress, depression, and anxiety. Brahmi has been shown to increase the production of important chemicals in mood regulation and work as an antioxidant.

For physical ailments, Waterhyssop can also act as a mild muscle relaxer. A daily dosage of at least 300 to 450 mg is recommended to supplement your Reiki healing.

3. St. John's Wort

This herb is used widely in both Ayurvedic and Chinese Traditional Medicine.

St. John's Wort works primarily by increasing the availability of certain neurochemicals associated with happiness.

The suggested dosage for efficacy is 300 mg three times daily for up to six weeks before a difference can be noted. Pair this with your Reiki practice for a quicker effect.

4. Triphala

There is growing evidence that depression and anxiety are due to chronic inflammation of the gut.

When we treat the root cause via our gut, our chakras become free, open, and our energy can flow naturally!

Triphala, is an Ayurvedic herbal blend which translates to mean three fruits. These are Amalaki, Bibhitaki, and Haritaki, which are available online and in your local ethnic grocery store.

This blend of herbs supports a healthy gut by assisting in internal cleansing of toxins from the GI tract, maintaining regularity so that toxins and undigested food don't putrefy and then re-enter the blood stream, It also supports the assimilation of nutrients, while acting as a natural antioxidant.

Triphala is also known as a tonic for the nervous system and supports healing in the body.

5. Mimosa Tree

Both the flowers and bark of the Mimosa Tree are some of the most valued herbal remedies among both Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurvedic practitioners alike. The Mimosa Tree has even been called the "happiness herb" or "collective happiness bark" for its effectiveness in creating an uplifted mood and positive outlook!

The bark is known to be calming and mildly sedative and can help anchor the spirit.

Too often times we may be subject to the whims of others...but in other times, we can and should take the time to enjoy our own happinesses.

The suggested dosage of Mimosa Tree depends on how you plan on taking this herb, but 400 grams of the fresh flower taken daily will have a mild sedative effect, while lower doses of a combination of the root and flowers can be uplifting without causing sleepiness.

Incorporating Healing Herbs into your Reiki Practice

Remember that Reiki is healing practice that should be a foundational block of a lifestyle of wellness.

Using herbal treatments will:

  • BOOST the affects of each healing session,
  • speed your recovery from blocked or damaged chakras, and
  • help you develop further along your life path.

Spending more time in nature, getting sufficient sleep, and eating a balanced diet will all also support regeneration of the life force energy.

Traditional Medicines For Therapy

These herbal remedies should help one stay in emotional balance so that past emotional traumas stored in the body can be released and a more "emotionally intelligent" way of dealing with new stresses can be developed.

After all, more Ki means more energy.

More energy to face all the challenges of life, yes...but additional Ki generation also means we can experience...

  • more joy
  • more focus...
  • ...and mental clarity

....even when the emotions we must process are positive ones.

Adding herbal support to treat the underlying causes of your negative emotional states should be the goal with the intent to directly alleviate the pain, loss, grief, anger, or other emotions that usually signify chronic depression and acute anxiety symptoms.

As we utilize Mother Nature's healing powers, we can find our own internal power to exist as the shining force of health and light we wish to be!

Remember to take these herbs in moderation - you definitely don't want to overkill it.

Just like anything else, make sure that you use herbs as a supplement to your Reiki practice.
